NASCAR Hall of Fame
Located at 400 E M.L.K. Jr Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28202. The NASCAR Hall of Fame honors the history and success of the sport. The hall of fame is a high-tech interactive experience that features a variety of exhibits that bring to life the history and excitement of NASCAR. In addition to the museum, NASCAR hosts over 300 unique events each year. The Hall of Fame is located at 400 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and is attached to the Charlotte Convention Center. The hall of fame is expected to boost tourism to Charlotte and create hundreds of jobs.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame honors 15 significant contributors to the sport. The list includes drivers, owners, broadcasters, and other major contributors to the competition. The inductees are selected by a voting panel of NASCAR executives. The voting takes place each year on May 4. The inductees are announced in the first quarter of the year. The class of 2023 was unveiled on April 4. The class includes 15 nominees. The list of nominees for the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2023 includes five Pioneer Ballot nominees. This ballot honors the drivers who have been part of NASCAR since its founding.
The first five nominees on the Pioneer Ballot are Carl Edwards, Ricky Rudd, Harry Hyde, Sam Ard, and Ralph Moody. The remaining nominees are on the Modern Era Ballot. These nominees are Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards, Neil Bonnett, Ricky Rudd, Harry Hyde, and Mike Helton.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame also has a special exhibit that honors the annual Squier-Hall Award winner. This special exhibit is unveiled during Induction Weekend each year. The Squier-Hall Award honors an individual who has made a significant contribution to the sport. Typically, the winner is announced around July. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is the first hall of fame to honor both a driver and a crew chief.
Another honor that NASCAR offers is the Landmark Award. This honor is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to NASCAR. The Landmark Award is only given out once per year. The nominee must be present on at least 60 percent of the ballots. The nominees are selected by a committee that includes Lesa France Kennedy, executive vice chair of NASCAR, and other prominent individuals.
Another NASCAR Hall of Fame honor is the Glory Road exhibit. This exhibit features a wide variety of historic to modern cars. The NASCAR Hall of Fame has inducted 58 members so far. These inductees include drivers, owners, crew chiefs, broadcasters, and other significant contributors to the competition. The induction of a member into the Hall of Fame marks the pinnacle of their career.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame offers education programs that reach 17,000 students throughout the Carolinas and 15 additional states.
