Mint Museum Uptown

Located at 500 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202. The Levine Center for the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Mint Museum Uptown is a world-renowned museum of modern and contemporary art, with a diverse collection of works. The museum’s collection includes works of American and European art, as well as sculptures and works in metal and wood. The museum also hosts creative in-gallery activities, a restaurant, and a museum store.

The Mint Museum Uptown is a modern, 145,000-square-foot facility with inspiring architecture and a dazzling collection of contemporary art. The museum is home to an impressive collection of paintings and sculptures, including works by American artists such as Norman Lewis, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Pablo Picasso. The museum also features a thriving Craft + Design collection. Throughout the year, the Mint hosts special programming and events, as well as free museum days.

Visitors can take a free lunchtime tour on the third Thursday of every month. This tour is offered by the Mint Museum Uptown in conjunction with the THRIVE Fund. Guests enjoy an hourlong tour of the museum, which is followed by a snack and drink. Mint Museum Uptown is closed on Tuesdays. Guests may also take free tours on the first and last Sunday of the month, as well as on the last Sunday of each month. The Mint Museum Uptown is located near the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts and Culture. The museum offers a variety of diverse collections that include works by African and African-American artists. The Gantt Center features African and West African textile panels, as well as diversity-inspired art objects.

The Mint Museum Uptown is open from 11 am to 6 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays and 1 to 5 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Visitors can also enjoy an hour-long food-tasting tour or a culinary arts experience. The restaurant, Halcyon, serves delicious cuisine and has seasonal dishes. Halcyon also has a wine menu.

The Mint Museum Uptown also hosts special events, including an annual celebration. This year’s celebration will take place on October 23 from noon to 4 PM. Mint Museum Uptown will feature live painting by Arthur Rogers, live music by local artists, raffle prizes, cupcakes, and more. Guests are also encouraged to wear durag, the traditional North Carolina-inspired attire that symbolizes freedom. Attendees will be provided with a gift bag with items such as Mint merchandise, a reusable shopping bag, and a Mint t-shirt. On the third Thursday of every month, the Mint Museum Uptown hosts a free lunchtime tour. The tour includes the Mint Museum Uptown, the Gantt Center, and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Tours are also free for members. Tickets for the free lunchtime tour are available at the front desk.

The Mint Museum also hosts special limited-engagement exhibitions. Among these are the American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection, which highlights more than 100 works of art from the museum’s collection. The exhibition explores the distinctive styles of American artists over the past two centuries.
